Alienware M17x really praised its power, keyboard, and display, among other things, but lamented its high price and poor battery life. This HD laptop offers you great gaming experience since it’s a gaming laptop with powerful specs like Intel Quad Core Sandy Bridge processor, AMD switchable graphics, Samsung SSD, and a large 17-inch of display.
Internals
This Alienware M17x laptop is powered by 2.3-GHz Intel Core i7-2820QM Quad-Core Sandy Bridge processor along with AMD Radeon HD 6970M with 2GB of DDR5 and Intel HD Graphics. It has two switchable GPUs. Plus it comes with 8GB of RAM (upgradeable up to 24GB), 256GB of SSD hard drive, Wi-Fi 802.11a/g/n Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.
Design
The design is not very different than its predecessor, but it comes a bit thinner. The older M17x measured 16 x 12.6 x 2.1 inches, and this latest M17x is 16 x 11.9 x 1.8 inches.While at the left side there are two USB 3.0 ports, VGA, HDMI out, mini Display port, S/PDIF jacks, microphone and two headphone jacks. Plus it has HDMI-in port as well. Yeah you can plug a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 into this M17x and use its screen for gaming. The older weighs at 11.6 pounds while the latest is 9.6 pounds. It’s still a bit lighter than the Toshiba Qosmio X505 (10.6) and heavier than the ASUS G73Jw-A1 (8.8 pounds).Display and Audio
The display of this Alienware M17x is great and incredible. The 17.3-inch of screen size with 1920×1080 pixels native resolution is amazing.
Webcam
The 2 megapixel webcam of this Alienware M17x delivered accurate and smooth visuals while chatting on Skype.
Battery Life
The battery life of this Alienware M17x is average on the gaming laptop. It lasts about 5 hours and 2 minutes while using it for everyday use.
OS and Apps
The Alienware M17x runs the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit version OS along with the major software like the Alienware’s Command Center utility.
Price
The lowest price of this Alienware M17x laptop is starting at $2099. Well it still expensive though.This price is the lowest price on Amazon.
